INSURANCE FAQ

Do I need insurance to rent equipment?

In most cases, yes—especially for larger gear packages or longer rental periods. Insurance protects both your production and our equipment from unexpected loss or damage.

If you don’t have coverage yet, that’s okay. We can walk you through what’s required and point you toward providers who specialize in production rentals. For smaller or one-off projects, we also offer flexible options—just reach out, and we’ll find a solution that fits your needs.

What kind of insurance do i need?

Most rentals fall into one or both categories—equipment or vehicle—and each has its own coverage requirements. These guidelines help protect your production, our gear, and anyone working on or around your set.

For Equipment Rentals (Cameras, Lighting, Grip)

  • Equipment Coverage: $1,000,000
  • Third-Party Property Damage Liability: $1,000,000
  • Commercial General Liability: $2,000,000
  • Lowing Light & Grip listed as Additional Insured and Loss Payee
  • Workers Compensation and Employers Liability, if applicable

For Vehicle Rentals

  • Physical Damage Coverage for Rented Vehicles: $125,000 per truck
  • Non-Owned and Hired Auto Liability: $1,000,000
  • Lowing Light & Grip listed as Loss Payee

These coverage levels reflect industry standards and ensure your policy meets both our requirements and those of other vendors you may be working with.

Every production is different—if your coverage doesn’t quite match these guidelines, reach out. We’re happy to help you navigate your options and find a path forward that keeps your project protected and moving.
